In May and June of this year I was in China teaching at the Ningbo Institute of Technology – part of Zhejiang University- and found not only the creative sprirt among the students, but also found it attached to a extraordinary work ethic. The engineering students were working nights and wekends on thier proejcts and studies. Lectures were going on late into the evening, as were the struictural and experimental engineering centers. I saw a similar ethic in my business and economics classes. I was not limited in any way in what I could teach and found the campus very open to new ideas. They’ve got a long way to go, but they are going at full speed.
