Randstad USA is forcing their twenty-something employees to work alongside the older generation. As a former corporate communications director and Gen Xer, I can tell you that no X or Y’s or Millenials like to be forced into unnatural partnerships. Just give us freedom and flexibility to do our jobs! Baby boomers need to step off their philosophical corporate management style.

Oh Rana – We’re not so bad. When will you habbas X’ers realize you have a lot to learn from us older and and oh-so-much-wiser boomers.

It isn’t so much the boomers’s philosophical corporate management style as it may be their serious need to keep on workin’. If the articles we read about the boomers failure to plan for retirement are true this picture may be what the future will look like. And companies will go along not only to take advantage of the boomers’s experience but also because of fear of age discrimination lawsuits. (Remember boomers are notoriously litigious) Also there are health reports that suggest one good way to stave off the numerous health challanges of old age is to keep on working. These two trends suggest that Randstad may be well out ahead of the curve.

Boomers should keep on working. The argument here is imposing cheesey rules and structures. Just give employees freedom to get their work done how and when they want.
