Good article and overall pretty right on, but some gaps in journalism in interpretation and attribution. After praising Peter Drucker in the first paragraph, the author has the following paragraph later on:
“But surely innovation and entrepreneurship are not the same thing? Following the most useful definition—that innovation brings fresh thinking to the marketplace that creates value for a company, its customers and for society at large—someone who opens yet another corner café may be a successful entrepreneur but not much of an innovator.”
Drucker argued exactly the opposite in “Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, that someone opening another small cafe was starting a business, but was not an entrepreneur because they weren’t launching a new idea.
And one of the subheads “The world is spiky” is taken from a well known urban economist who has written extensively on this topic but isn’t mentioned. Maybe the sincerest form of flattery.
