Secret Weapon

During the Democratic debate, Obama shot back at Hillary,  “I feel like I’m running against two Clintons.”  No matter what they think of his presidency, a growing number of people on all sides of the aisle are taken aback to see a former president doing what Bill Clinton has been doing in this campaign.

So, what do you think would be the fall-out if, say, Michelle Obama showed up on Oprah or a similar venue to talk her role in the campaign and possibly the White House versus Bill Clinton’s recent behavior and the tendency of the Clintons to “gang up” on people?

Michelle Obama obviously doesnt carry the same weight as Bill Clinton. Also it’s jsut not that Clinton is criticizing Obama but it’s the way that he is doing it. He’s coming off as an attack dog.

The Clintons are showing their true colors. They’re pulling out all of the stops just before super-Tuesday in order to win the nomination. They hope to realize only a temporary dip in their personal brand; and that Democrats will forgive everything and support them to win back the White House next Fall. I don’t think they realize how disgusted the nation has become with their low-rent tactics and tarnishing of a new brand of politics; and turning this into a contest about race. The general electorate will send them back to Arkansas with their tails between their legs. But that’s not necesarily a good thing for the country at a time when a new style of leadership could not be more sorely needed. An Obama-McCain or Obama-Romney match-up would, if nothing else, be more of a contest about ideas and policy than of mud-slinging old-school political tricks that engender hate and division.
