I am real uneasy regarding the next election. Considering the trouble that is happening in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Middle East (not to mention the economy) we badly must have a experienced leader. I'm not convinced that Mr. Obama or any of the Republican candidates thus far have the experience or skills it takes to do the job the way it needs to be done. Being president of this country is an immensely hard job. Do you think there is any man or woman out there with the experience, skill, and moral courage to do the job?

He looks great in a suit and he gives fabulous speeches, but it's what he's already done that counts. And -- as CNN recently put -- he's thrown a lot of balls, but didn't nail that many baskets with his legislative efforts. I think his novelty will wear thin long before November. Hopefully, he'll be the vice-presidential candidate.

Excellent analysis! Only comment, candidate-versus-candidate, Obama wins the creative class vote versus McCain but McCain appeals to them too on the issue of authenticity. McCain-Obama is a not a choice of 2 evils in the eyes of the creative class but a signal that the country as a whole is moving in new post-partisan direction. Nor should we venture to position the creative class as being in a bloc Dem voting group.

Political party affiliations will become less relevant as the political entry barriers continue to fall with technology and the ability for a candidate to make a name for himself or herself via a well-designed website or blog as opposed to via mass media and the development of strong organizational machines. We're already seeing the decline of party influence at the local and regional levels and this trend will eventually reach higher in the coming years. Expect party affiliation itself to become more of a stigma and sign that a candidate "doesn't get it" in the coming years.
