Portland, Oregon only has the NBA Trailblazers as their local ‘major league’ team so the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners are their default NFL and MLB teams. The regional Comcast Sportsnet includes a psuedo-local NHL package comprising half Vancouver Canucks, a third San Jose Sharks and the rest from other regional games, but hockey really is not a focus around here, surprisingly.
I think that the barrier created by US Homeland Security is underemphasized in these mega-region discussions, not just for Canadians who wish to attend Bills and Seahawks (or Vikings) games but also for Americans who would want to go up to Vancouver for a Canucks game, or to follow the Sabres or Red Wings to games in Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal.

The Winnesota Vikings also has a nice ring. (Depsite being a small market the ‘Peg has great football fans!)
And the border really isn’t much of a problem, in my experience — as long as you have a passport!
