What’s Your City’s Thing?

What are the “invisible things” that shape a city? According to this article in Discover (via Planetizen), it’s cheese-whiz on Philly cheese steaks, clouds in Seattle, A/C in Houston, botox in LA. Huh? What exactly am I missing? Anyway, the premise is interesting.

What are the small everyday things that shape your city and shape its soul?

I was raised in a small town in Pennsylvania that tends to be defined by deer hunting. My high school had a rifle club and Thanksgiving break was always extended by two days to honor the start of deer season.

Using a folding chair to save a parking space on the street is a defining visual image to native Pittsburghers….what a tradition!
