And even if a person's contributions never 'get noticed by the right people,' they at least have an outlet and community to be part of. Whether or not a person's words are acknowledged by others, their comments are still out there on the web, existing. And I think that gives people hope, which is a very good thing... providing it's not false hope that a few words in cyberspace might become viral, get noticed by the right people, and bring them fortune and fame. Everyone likes to be part of something, and sites like Facebook have given people an opportunity to express their voice.
