Loved the passion you demonstrated in your interview! We cannot however look at the housing problem from a macro-level in terms of how to fix it structurally. In an asset-based lending model, home ownership is the only path to a moderate to above-avergage lifestyle in the US– too many factors contribute to this than need be mentioned, the bottom line is that it could not be changed without substantial governmental interventional and the people would never support it. We need a talent-based lending model similar to what we already employ in the student-loan based model. Do this and more people will be able to afford both houses and rental properties, and the market will always rise to meet the demands of both. This is not to say that asset-based lending should not predominate; but it is to say that the visions of most would-be entrepreneurs upon whose future efforts we all depend cannot be awakened without such changes. Change this and everything else changes overnight.

Does Richard own his own home ? I saw an article last year that featured Richard and his wife on their new house.
