I would recommend Morocco! The landscapes are absolutely stunning, the food is delicious, the people are friendly, and the range of fascinating experiences are endless. My husband and I have lived and traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia, and we chose to live in Morocco for our year-long honeymoon. It was fabulous!

Howard-

I would recommend Central America. Nicaragua and El Salvador are VERY stable, yet they are still perceived as dangerous from their wars 20 years ago. Costa Rica and Guatemala are a bit more advanced, but still very authentic in terms of culture. The humidity is not as bad as SE Asia, and the nature and photography potentials are incredible.

Good luck!

I just finished watching the program on BookTV and found it fascinating. I was born in Southern California, and have lived in the Detroit area, Cologne Germany, and have been in Florida for the past 23 years, mostly on the east coast. Five years ago, I came to Bradenton here in the Tampa Bay area, and realized I have a new home town. In lots of ways, it's like a little 50's town, but it's a big city. I live in a little old Cracker house, shaded by majestic oaks, Spanish moss, lots of tropical vines and flowering bushes. I think I died and went to heaven.

I call it my jungle hideaway. I never get more dressed up than shorts, T-shirt and flip-flops (this is a requirement), and I'm totally happy. I need to be near the water . I don't go there a lot, but I need to know it's there.

I'm retired and can pursue all my interests, do community service, and interact with people as much or as little as I like. I;m stunned that I just lucked onto this wonderful place.
