Hightech & Baroque – Dresden’s Future

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Centuries ago it was the White Gold, the Exploration of silver in the Erzgebirge, and many other innovations that were spurred by the country’s creative king, August the Strong. The recent exhibition “State of the Art for 450 Years” of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, http://bit.ly/StateOfTheArt450Years, shows the creativeness and entrepreneurial spirit that has been fostered economic wealth since then.

In the time of the industrialization on the turn of the 19th to 20th century, Dresden was famous for its camera business, and many more http://bit.ly/DresdenInventions (see for yourself). Also the car industry, that is still there in the face of dozens of OEM suppliers in the area was very strong.

Then the time after the war and 40 years of GDR in a way halted that movement – it least it seemed like that.

Nowadays it may be the time for making the connection between the past and the future, combining Hightech & Baroque to something magnificently great.

SiliconSaxony, as the Financial Times coined the city of Dresden years ago has the power and drive to make this happen, through its citizens who really deserve it due to their creative power that has outlasted the times of GDR and 20 years as being part of Germany.

Are you thrilled to join the journey? Happy to connect and create the collaborative innovation network that is already under way. Outspanned to Savannah, GA, for the http://coins2010.com conference. The Global Entrepreneurship Week starting 15th of November will be the next chance driving change forward in this fast moving world.

The picture seen is the former Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau, that was an entrepreneurial hotspot exactly 100 years ago (and still is, on smaller scale today), http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Werkstätten_Hellerau

Buildings that would like to talk…

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

… and make the change happen. For quite a while I was thinking about setting up something similar as Team Academy (a management school up in Finland without teachers, students and classes). Over time people always asked me, “How do make money and a living from that?” A striking question! For me creating value is in the first place – earning money normally follows suit. So how to create value? Bringing people together, so diverse as possibly doable in order to create really new things, value and a sense for people to live for. Can it be done virtually in the Web-space? For some of us probably. For most of us no. It needs a common space where to meet, exchange thoughts, prototype new ideas and bring the change into the world.

So, what to do? Monday, 30th of March has been the starting point for: http://mindbroker.de/wiki/LockSchuppen.  An old railway building, standing empty for a couple of years now, a great heritage, inspiring outside, central place (right in city center and in the most vivid suburb of Dresden: Dresden-Neustadt, where new ideas spring up at every corner). Just one seed for more to come. Happy to connect with other initiatives around the globe to establish a thriving network and foundation for inter-collaborative future co-creation:-)) Best regards and looking forward to hearing from you.
