Microsoft’s new TV ad launched Saturday night during the NFL opener. Crispin Porter & Bogusky, the ad agency behind the $300 million campaign, has garnered much press about the odd partnership.
Many think the ad was a flop, but there sure has been a lot of buzz about the partnership, the campaign, and Jerry Seinfeld’s $10 million celebrity endorsement. Is Microsoft successfully changing its stale image compared to its creative rival, Apple? What do you think of the teaser ad?

There was a disconnect at the end of the ad with the edible computer equipment comments… but I’m always a sucker for watching anything that involves Seinfeld (mostly b/c he looks like he’s about to burst out laughing when he delivers his lines at some point in every “serious” interaction). So the ad, though way too long, did hold my attention til the end. And, I am also a sucker for anything food-related. So what does that “Delicious” teaser at the end mean for Microsoft? Scented ringtones? An edible mouse?

I love Jerry Seinfeld. But the commercial seemed not only too long, but that microsoft was trying too hard. The creative team at apple has the edge that microsoft just hasn’t been able to deliver. The commercial, is like staring at an old man in a flashy expensive car and a 20 something wife, awkward and sad.

Nicely said D. But is the goal of the ad campaign to generate buzz and get people talking or is it solely to position what the product will deliver? This is the first teaser ad in a series. Looking forward to what they come up with next.

I really liked the ads, but I left wondering what the hell they were selling. Mind you, I’m an Advertising major, but still left wondering what they were pitching. Was it Bill Gates or Jerry Seinfeld? I’m sure they’ll bring us in with a pitch in the next few months. For now, they’re probably getting interest or “buzz” from the initial campaign launch.

I’ve never heard Seinfeld sound so boring!!!! Although, somewhere out there, Steve Jobs has fallen onto the floor and is laughing like never before.
Microsoft should shutter its doors and become a private equity company before it squanders ALL of the profits that it made during the 90’s. Even the Office products are getting worse!! Custer had better odds of surviving!!!
