Is consumerism a possible forecast of an election? There’s a new store at Reagan National Airport, aptly titled, ‘America’ in Terminal B. While waiting for my flight last week, I popped in to check out the array of fun election gadgets. While cashing out with a few Obama bobble heads and a tin of Bush administration ‘indictmint’ mints, Richard asked the cashier which candidate was selling more products. She eagerly reported that Obama was way ahead in sales, outpacing McCain and Palin by double. Here’s a small shop titled America in one the busiest airports in the nation’s capital which already swings democratic but hosts tourists from all over the country. What do you think? Are people voting with their dollar?

I have to think that people wouldn’t spend their dollars on a bit of kitsch for someone they don’t actually support politically… but sometimes it’s just a laugh to buy toys that merely make fun of the powers that be, whatever your political bent!

I remember near the end of the primaries, after almost everyone knew Obama would be the nominee but before Hillary Clinton had officially dropped out, that store was selling Clinton merchandise for 50% off. My fiancee remarked to me that you could know for sure her candidacy was at an end when stores were putting her stuff on clearance.

Hi Rana,
I hope you and Richard are well.
You look great with Obama - I wonder what Michelle would say

Hi Debra!

Richard took the photo and I tried to get him to pose with Sarah but he refused!

Why should she not be, neil?
And, to answer the question, probably so. Isn’t there a Halloween masks “poll” every year that is nearly always accurate?
I’ll go google it and see if I can find it.
