    I think I alluded to this phenomenon a few weeks ago – this is basically America’s “African-American Rural Crescent” stretching from Southeast Virginia to the Mississippi Delta, although it should be noted that this region now has a handful of diverse urban and suburban counties in it or on its periphery – Atlanta (Fulton/DeKalb), Charlotte (Mecklenburg), Raleigh (Wake), Columbia, SC (Richland), Augusta, GA (Richmond), etc.
