I've got to say that I'm happy to see some west of Toronto references Guelph on the list, but I am really surprised to not see Kitchener-Waterloo and Stratford in any of the lists (Stratford is known to be one of the best places in Canada for retirees). The reason I'm surprised to not see these cities is the huge push towards a new economy in this entire region...digital media, creative technology and real innovation happening all around...perhaps it's really just a matter of opinion...

Can't rightly argue with the numbers as haven't read the book yet, but...being a father of two young children in Victoria, BC I can say that I can't imagine anywhere better to be, let alone 10 other places in Canada. Perhaps this is an example of the numbers not being able to tell enough of the story. It happens in sports all the time. Perhaps Victoria is somewhat unquantifiable, though I suppose that's true for most things human.

I've got to go with Mr. Clark here.

I'll grant that I haven't read the Canadian edition, only the American edition, but by what metric is Iqaluit a good place for anything? It has a population of 6,184 and virtually no prospect for realistic expansion. Perhaps it's the best city in Nunavut, but what else is there?
