Inclusive DC

THE NEW URBAN CRISIS: HOW OUR CITIES ARE INCREASING INEQUALITY, DEEPENING SEGREGATION, AND FAILING THE MIDDLE CLASS—AND WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT IT

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, Urbanist and Author Richard Florida, EDENS’ CEO Jodie W. McLean, The Atlantic’s Ron Brownstein, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, Economic Innovation Group’s Steve Glickman, ULI Senior Fellow and former mayor of Pittsburgh Tom Murphy, gather to discuss building inclusive prosperity in our cities.

Catalyzing Inclusive Prosperity for All

America’s urban revival has turned into a new urban crisis. Our great creative communities have become increasingly unequal and unaffordable. We need a new pathway and playbook going forward.

Inclusive prosperity is a framework to move beyond our current urban divides, where city and community leaders, urbanists, neighborhood activists and businesses work together to create opportunities for all.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

“Richard Florida is the great pioneer thinker who first explained how the influx of creative people was reviving cities. Now he takes the next step: looking for ways to make this urbanism more inclusive. Florida takes a hard look at the problems and, as usual, comes up with some smart new policies. Making cities work for all residents is one of the great economic, political, and moral issues of our time.” —Walter Isaacson, President and CEO, the Aspen Institute, author of Steve Jobs

“A sweeping narrative of the most significant human movement of our times: global urbanization. Richard Florida lays out with unassailable facts and clear vision the convergence of an urgent human development—the drive for more livable cities and the quest for a more sustainable planet. “—Governor Martin O’Malley
